The new plant will replace the existing conventional lime softening plant and provide enhanced treatment technologies. Investing in the design and construction of a new water treatment plant is critical. It will ensure we continue to meet or exceed state and federal requirements for drinking water.  Moreover, the new plant will modernize our water infrastructure, improve water quality, and ensure a sustainable future for our community.

Changes to Your Water Bill

At the May 20, 2025, City Commission Meeting, the Commission approved Ordinance No. 15-25 on Second Reading to increase water and sewer rates. The rate increase went into effect on October 1, 2025.

  • Prior to 2022, water rates had not been increased for more than 15 years.
  • The rate increases will help pay for the new water treatment plant.
  • The City Commission is continuing to explore alternate funding sources to offset future costs.

The charts below show the estimated rate increases for water and wastewater service. Please note that 6,000 gallons per month is an estimated usage amount for a typical household.

The chart below shows our estimated water and wastewater bills compared to other cities in South Florida.
